How to make spicy chicken wings

First of all, start with things you need for chicken wings. This recipe is quick to make. All you need to have is properly thawed or fresh chicken wings. Remove the wingtip. Make sure the wings are in two parts, the wingette, and the drumette. Well, you can use buffalo wings (whole wings) for this recipe. It’s totally up to the consumer’s preference.

Things you need for crispy chicken wings recipe:

  • 20 chicken wings with skin
  • 4 tbsp vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 4 tbsp corn starch
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • Franks red hot wings sauce (I prefer hot buffalo)

Marinate chicken wings with vinegar, salt, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. Mix everything well and let it sit for at least half an hour. You can marinate overnight as well.

Mix corn starch and all-purpose flour in a bowl. At this point, you can add extra salt or cayenne pepper to adjust your spice level for those who prefer to enjoy chicken wings without any sauce.

Kids would love crispy baked or fried chicken wings without any hot sauce. So you can adjust their salt and savory kick at this point.

Now, add the all-purpose and corn star mixture on marinated chicken wings.

Coat wings with flour mixture and let it sit for at least an hour or two. You can refrigerate it overnight for an extra crispy texture.

Bake wings in an air fryer for 25 to 30 minutes. Increase time for well-done chicken wings depending on how well your air fryer performs.

You can also fry wings in a deep fryer. There is no doubt that the deep-fried wings are more delicious and turn out crispier.

With that being said, baking would not make them any less crunchy. At least you can enjoy crispy chicken wings without feeling guilty about it.

How to Prepare buffalo sauce

Melt butter in a pan on low flame. Add Frank’s wings sauce. Mix butter and wings sauce well. Put crispy chicken wings in the sauce and gently coat well. Avoid shaking as it may affect the wings’ coating.

How to make sweet and spicy wing sauce

Add 2 tbsp of honey in butter and wing sauce for a sweet and tangy flavor. This will lessen the heat and give really amazing flavor to chicken wings.

How to make sauce extra spicy

Add extra hot Frank’s wings sauce for a spicier kick. You can mix any two different types of sauces to create a unique flavor that no one can copy. You can also add hot crushed peppers if you prefer super hot wings.

Why do we add butter to make wing sauce

Without butter, it is going to get dry when you simmer hot sauce in a pan, and it may not stick well to the wings depending on the wing sauce consistency. Ideally, butter helps the sauce stick to the wings making both texture and taste better in so many ways.

What to serve with hot wings?

Usually, we see celery or some other veggies, like carrot or mini cucumbers, do well as a side. However, my favorite dip with wings is ranch. Blue cheese and ranch are your best bet.

Can I freeze wings as pre prep meal

Once the wings are coated well, it is ideal to make them fresh but if you have to freeze them for later use, you can place them sparsely on a tray covered with foil. Once frozen, put in a zip lock bag.

Fry or air fry as needed for kids’ lunch or a quick dinner menu.

How to get rid of the chicken smell while cooking

Using vinegar is the best way to kill any kind of smell in the meat, especially chicken. Avoid using too much vinegar; as a general rule, 3 to 4 tablespoons is good to use for 20 to 30 chicken wings.
